| Hello
Everyone, I just
wanted to thank everyone who attended Ray & Aisha's Potluck. They had a great
turnout, lots of great food, good conversation, and it was nice and cozy. We reached
a second highest ever attendees in a row, 32! For those of you who didn't attend,
we missed you and hope to see you at Don and Kaja's on Nov. 18. You can RSVP,
get their address, contact info, map and driving directions by using the Next
Potluck page in the secure Member area. November
18 is the week before Thanksgiving. I'm thinking of stuffing, sweet potatoes,
and pumpkin pie. How about you? Everyone should have received an e-mail with the
updated Potluck list. Disregard the old one and use the new one instead. There
have been a lot of changes, and we want you to have the most current and correct
information. Congratulations
!!! Ron & Bertie for bringing the Orange Wakame Salad which is the October
Potluck Winner! Information
about OCMacros.com Starting
with the September Newsletter, the monthly Newsletters can be found in the Newsletter
archive. They will refresh your memories and at the same time help new members
become more informed about our club policies and activities. If you'd like to
submit or read The
OC News, click the link at the top of this page. It's your forum to post news
that is interesting to the group! Our
webmaster has installed ASP (Active Server Page) password protection to make our
Member area totally secure. Now that the area is totally secure, we need to fill
up the member directory with your photo, Macro story, and contact info. Send your
info using the Dewebamaster link,
info@ocmacros.com, or snail mail. We want
to get this section completed! The
new web site has increased our exposure, and we already have several people new
to the group who will be attending the November Potluck. I wish to extend a warm
welcome to and a "heads up" for several new people who will be joining
us in November. Please look for Toni, Francene, and Jim & Jane next month
and introduce yourself. I
hope you all have checked out the new web site, OCMacros.com. The recipe section
will be completed soon. You can view the years' recipes by category like seitan,
pasta, or dessert. You can also search for individual recipes using the "Ingredient
search" box on the recipe pages. For example, say you want to locate recipes
that use "brown rice syrup"? Type it exactly that way into the Ingredients
search box with the quotation marks. Voila! Click on any of the results to view
a recipe with brown rice syrup. Or you want a particular recipe and know all or
part of the title? Use quotation marks around the title, click the find button,
and you will see the recipe in the results. Would you like to see a list of all
of your own recipes? Easy. Type in your name and hit Find, and there they are!
Or you'd like to view all the recipes of a particular Potluck? Just type in a
month. Want to see the whole years' worth of recipes? Type in 2004. Here's
a link to send your feedback about the web site, all suggestions are welcome:
info@macros.com If
all the recipes are submitted before a Potluck, you can print off a copy of your
recipe from the web site. You would just need to bring one recipe with you that
has the ingredients for questions that arise, since some people are on a medicinal
diet. When you get home, you can retrieve the recipes, from OCMacros.com. It doesn't
waste paper and saves our trees! Sending your recipe is easy. Just e-mail from
the Dewebamaster link at the bottom of any page, or use the Send
Your Recipe page in the Member section which is the best way. Oh,
I almost forgot . . . Don't forget to vote for your Favorite Dish at Don &
Kaja's or from the web site. This is how to vote from the web site. Click the
Vote button in the secure Member area, select your favorite dish from the list,
and click the Vote button. Don & Kaja need all the specific dish names to
go on the voting ballot the day of the Potluck. For example, if you are bringing
an appetizer and the main ingredient is tofu, don't say a tofu dish, tell the
host/hostess the correct name, French Onion Dip, so the correct name can be on
the voting form. (Read the revised Host/Hostess
Responsibilities on the web site.) Happy
Thanksgiving to all! Thank
You, Sue Renish
